Characterization II |
Molecular Sieves - Science and Technology covers, in a comprehensive manner, the science and technology of zeolites and all related microporous and mesoporous materials. Authored by renowned experts, the contributions to this handbook-like series are grouped together topically in such a way that each volume deals with a specific sub-field. Volume 5 complements Volume 4 (Characterization I) in that it is devoted to the characterization of molecular sieves by a variety of non-spectroscopic techniques (Characterization II). Thus, Volume 5 comprises Chemical Analysis, Thermal Analysis, Pore-Size Characterization by Molecular Probes, Characterization by 129Xe NMR, Coke Characterization, Synthesis and Characterization of Isomorphously Substituted Molecular Sieves.

Computer Simulations in Condensed Matter Systems: From Materials to Chemical Biology. Volume 2 |
This extensive and comprehensive collection of lectures by world-leading experts in the field introduces and reviews all relevant computer simulation methods and their applications in condensed matter systems. Volume 1, published as LNP 703 (ISBN 3-540-35270-8) is an in-depth introduction to a vast spectrum of computational techniques for statistical mechanical systems of condensed matter. It will enable the graduate student and both the specialist and nonspecialist researcher to get acquainted with the tools necessary to carry out numerical simulations at an advanced level. The present volume is a state-of-the-art survey on numerical experiments carried out for a great number of systems, ranging from materials sciences to chemical biology, such as supercooled liquids, spin glasses, colloids, polymers, liquid crystals, biological membranes and folding proteins.

Dynamics of Fibre Formation and Processing |
The book deals with the modelling of steady state and non-steady state basic processes of fibre formation and fibre processing. Focal points are melt spinning processes (polymers and glass, drawing, spunbonded nonwoven), spun yarn spinning processes (drafting, carding) and the description of the dynamics in different process steps during the fibre processing (fibre transport, fibre heating and cooling, false twist texturing).

Framework for Chemical Risk Management under REACH |
Since 2008, the EU system for the Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals (REACH) has begun impacting companies across the world. Today, efficient and effective implementation of REACH continues to depend on the inter-action of Member State regulators during Indecision-making. This is the result of past political debates surrounding the legislation being narrowly focused on mechanisms for conducting hazard assessments. To facilitate EU decision-making, Framework for Chemical Risk Management under REACH presents a possible framework for risk management under REACH.

Physics of Surfaces and Interfaces |
This graduate-level textbook covers the major developments in surface sciences of recent decades, from experimental tricks and basic techniques to the latest experimental methods and theoretical understanding. It is unique in its attempt to treat the physics of surfaces, thin films and interfaces, surface chemistry, thermodynamics, statistical physics and the physics of the solid/electrolyte interface in an integral manner, rather than in separate compartments. It is designed as a handbook for the researcher as well as a study-text for graduate students. Written explanations are supported by 350 graphs and illustrations.

Tank Linings for Chemical Process Industries |
NEW RELEASE ... COMING SOON
Rubber linings can be used as passive protection against the corrosion of plant and equipment in the chemical process industries. Rubbers act as sacrificial materials reacting or un-reacting with the corrosive media, diffusing the liquids or not diffusing, swelling by itself or not swelling, permeating or not permeating gases or fumes, abrading or wearing by the slurry particles, getting ozonised or oxidised; but still protecting the metal surface beneath it, during its considerable life cycle under those severe and stressed conditions. Rubbers age but their life cycle is good enough to protect the metals against corrosion and erosion.

Underlying Foundation of Science used in Regulation of Industrial Chemicals |
This book reviews the relevant chemical nomenclature issues in the EU and in the US and their impact on regulatory compliance. In particular, during the pre-REACH period, chemical identities frequently were described differently by different manufacturers for the same chemicals. The importance of having consistent nomenclature rules under REACH is related to the establishment of Substance Information Exchange Forums (SIEF) by ECHA after the pre-registration process, and, ultimately, industry consortia to meet registration requirements.
