AZoM’s Chief Editor Cameron Chai catches up with Adriana Romero from Visitec to learn about the world’s largest chamber SEM’s, what they are used for, and who uses them.
Visitec are unique in the market place in that they manufacture large chamber SEM’s with volumes of up to 35ft3. Adriana explains how these enable users to carry out non-destructive testing on samples as large as an engine block or complete terracotta warrior.
She also tells us about their unique positioning system which allows a greater degree of freedom compared to more conventional laboratory sized SEM’s and how these devices have been used to develop new applications as well as testing.
Adriana also provides us with examples of who uses Visitec's large chamber SEM’s and their various different applications.
The large chamber SEM’s manufactured by Visitec are unique and allow people from industries such as automotive, aerospace, steel etc. to test the real behaviour of entire components, or alternatively carry out non-destructive examinations on large samples such as engine blocks or turbine blades.
