Why Data Logging With the XP3i Outperforms the XP2i

The XP3i digital pressure gauge has significant advantages over the XP2i, especially in data capacity, logging speed, cloud integration, and mobile control. This article describes how these advancements equate to more efficiency, reliability, and usability for various use cases.

6250× More Data Storage–No More Worries About Capacity

The XP3i increases data capacity from 32,000 stored points to more than 200 million points (6,250 times more storage capacity). This sizable increase eliminates capacity issues for the majority of use cases.

Worry no more about having sufficient leftover space to finish overnight tests. Tests can be started and stopped for months at a time without even having to think about capacity, thanks to XP3i. Once connected to AMETEK’s cloud service, clients can send data to AMETEK’s server (only accessible via personal login details), clear their gauge, and restart at 200 million available points.

More Rapid Data Logging for Recording Rapid Pressure Changes

The XP3i raises the maximum logging rate to 5 times per second, up from once per second. For use cases with rapid pressure differences, this 500% hike in logging rate enables a fuller idea of pressure tests. And, due to the large data capacity, higher logging rates won’t fill up memory too quickly.

Cloud-Based Data Management with CrystalControlWeb (CCW)

The brand new cloud service CrystalControlWeb (CCW) offers a completely new approach to storing and sharing data than what was possible using the XP2i. Clients can upload their data from the XP3i, using a USB connection or AMETEK’s mobile app, with the import option in CCW.

Once data is uploaded to AMETEK’s server, clients can take full advantage of a range of logging features. These include naming and tagging logging runs, sorting and archiving data, generating reports, and exporting or sharing results.

Although the meaning behind ‘naming logging runs’ is obvious, run tags permit the addition of multiple tags to any logging run. Subsequently, prior runs can be recalled by searching for these tags. This organization option helps clients to find the exact logging run they’re looking for.

Another key feature is data sharing. AMETEK’s CCW platform uses an organization-based system to streamline collaboration and reporting.

Users within the same company are invited to join a shared organization, after which each individual receives their own secure login. This structure allows teams to seamlessly access, manage, and share data within a centralized, controlled environment.

This makes it possible for a technician to upload the stored run they gathered from the field, and this data can then be made available to all colleagues with access to their CCW organization. After logging in they can have complete access to their company’s set of gauges.

Full Wireless Control with the CrystalConnect (CC) Mobile App

The new mobile application CrystalConnect (CC) allows users to have full control of the XP3i logging situation. CCW makes it possible for users to set logging parameters, begin and stop logging runs, and download data wirelessly from their XP3i. This provides users with numerous options to fit each individual situation.

Here are some possible options:

  1. Take control of all logging runs from one location. Switch from gauge to gauge without having to move.
  2. Stay in a temperature-controlled vehicle while driving up to a mounted gauge. Download data and begin your next run without having to get out of your seat, avoiding both hot and cold temperatures.
  3. Access the XP3i even when it’s mounted in a hazardous location. Take away all personnel from the area and access the gauge from a safe distance.
  4. Read the XP3i while it’s mounted in a hard-to-reach area or controlled environment, such as a clean room or a pipe 15 feet from the ground.

AMETEK recognizes that switching can be a challenge once clients find a gauge they trust. That’s why it has designed XP3i to retain everything users value about the XP2i: its simplicity, reliability, and durability, while introducing new features that make the job even easier.

By combining familiar strengths with enhanced functionality, the XP3i offers a seamless upgrade path for those ready to do more without giving up what they already know and trust.
