Sialon Hooks for Hot Dip Aluminizing

The non–ferrous molten metal handling industry is usually where the sialon hooks are used for hot dip aluminizing. The method includes modifying the surface properties of steel, for instance, in order to enhance its resistance to corrosion and wear.

Sialon can be thought of as an alloy of silicon nitride, and which also offer excellent chemical and thermal stability. Syalon 101 has exceptional strength and thermal shock resistance, and it is further resistant to corrosion. Also, it is non–wetted by most non–ferrous metals, for example aluminium and its alloys, and zinc.

Syalon 101 performs better than alternative materials, such as cast iron, silicon carbide and aluminium-titanate, in non-ferrous applications. It is also the more cost-effective choice.

It is advisable to use Syalon 050 where the temperature may exceed 1200 °C. Syalon 050 possesses excellent physical properties, similar to those of the Syalon 101, with temperatures of up to 1400 °C.

International Syalons produce a wide range of hooks, including single and double hooks, and hooks designed with a special profile to limit the possibility of aluminium build-up on the hook.
