Bio-based bags
The new bio-based bags have been developed mainly for the rapid growing packaged foods and “food-to-go” markets. These bags are suitable for display and presentation of ready-to-eat food products such as baked foods and confectionery. The new compostable bags serve as a substitute for traditional PVC-coated and oil-based polypropylene clear cellophane bags used in the foodservice market.
NatureFlex bags are heavy-duty and 100% biodegradable bags suitable for hot foods and also for reheating in a microwave or oven. This product line has received FDA approval for food contact applications and it is ideal for both cold and hot foods, including dry snacks, confectionery, bakery goods, wraps and sandwiches.
Excellent Packaging’s lip-n-tape line of compostable bags is designed for cold foods like sandwiches and snacks. It is a resealable, clear line of flat bags produced from NatureWorks Ingeo biopolymer. In addition, these bio-based bags are suitable for individual servings of dried fruit, portioned snacks or cookies. These two lines of sustainable retail food bags are excellent alternatives to non-sustainable food bags produced from fossil-fuel derivatives.
