Unlocking Real-World Impact with Diamond Quantum Technologies

As governments and industry increase investment in quantum technologies, Element Six is helping bridge the gap between laboratory research and deployable solutions. The company's engineered synthetic diamond materials are enabling quantum devices that offer significant advantages in size, weight, power and deployability compared to several alternative approaches.

Against this backdrop, the company’s latest advances in the field will be showcased today at Quantum World Congress 2026, where Dr Matthew Markham, Head of Quantum Technologies at Element Six, will present how synthetic diamond has established itself as a critical platform for scalable quantum sensing, networking and computing systems.

"The future of quantum will depend not only on algorithms and hardware, but on the advanced materials that make these systems possible," said Dr Daniel Twitchen, CTO at Element Six. "Synthetic diamond is an increasingly critical technology platform for quantum sensing, networking and computing, helping accelerate the path from scientific discovery to deployable systems."

The company’s advances across its synthetic diamond quantum technology portfolio, showcased at the event, range from high-performance materials for quantum sensing and magnetic sensing applications in healthcare, navigation and semiconductor diagnostics, to thin-film diamond and silicon-vacancy technologies supporting quantum interconnects and future quantum networks, all enabled by scalable manufacturing approaches compatible with semiconductor industry processes.

With more than 80 years of expertise in synthetic diamond innovation and advanced manufacturing, E6 is working with a network of partners across sectors such as aerospace, healthcare and electronics to support the development of diamond-enabled quantum sensing, networking and computing applications.

As the United States and other nations continue to invest in quantum capabilities, access to advanced materials, scalable manufacturing and resilient supply chains will be increasingly important. Element Six's work in synthetic diamond aims to support those efforts by enabling the next generation of quantum devices and systems.
