Edinburgh Analytical and Alontia Launch DB30 NanoIndex and DB30 NanoSize Packages

Edinburgh Analytical and Alontia A/S, formerly known as Copenhagen Nanosystems A/S and CPHNANO, today announced the launch of the DB30 NanoIndex and DB30 NanoSize packages, expanding the DB30 Double-beam UV-Vis Spectrophotometer (DB30) beyond conventional absorbance and transmission measurements.

Developed through a strategic partnership, the packages combine Edinburgh Analytical’s high-performance DB30 platform with Alontia’s nanophotonic cuvette technology and cloud-based analytics. The result is a connected workflow designed to provide refractive-index and particle-size insights using familiar UV-Vis instrumentation.

Designed for research and quality-control laboratories, the new packages can reduce sample-volume requirements, simplify preparation and help teams move effortlessly from measurement to actionable data.

A Partnership Driving Innovation

The collaboration between Edinburgh Analytical and Alontia brings together expertise in precision optical engineering, nanophotonic sensing, and cloud-enabled analytical technologies. Together, the companies are committed to advancing UV-Vis spectroscopy and creating new opportunities for laboratories seeking greater analytical capability from existing workflows.

“At Edinburgh Analytical, we're always looking for ways to help laboratories unlock more value from their instruments. Working with Alontia has allowed us to bring innovative new capabilities to the DB30, making refractive-index and particle-size analysis more accessible to spectrophotometer users," Roger Fenske, CEO Edinburgh Analytical.

“The next generation of analytical capability will come from software, chips and optics working together, not from ever more specialized instruments. Edinburgh has decades of credibility in precision spectroscopy, while we bring nanophotonics and cloud analytics to UV-Vis. Putting the two together gives laboratories something neither of us could offer alone," said Dr. Emil Højlund-Nielsen, CEO of Alontia A/S.

DB30 UV-Vis Spectrophotometer

The DB30 is a versatile double-beam UV-Vis spectrophotometer that delivers precise absorption and transmission measurements across a wide wavelength range. Combining high-performance optics with intuitive touchscreen or PC-based operation, it provides a powerful solution for both analytical and research laboratory environments.

DB30 NanoIndex

Powered by the NanoCuvette™ One, this enables refractive index analysis trace-volume measurements, and an extended measurement range. The solution is particularly well suited for applications such as protein analysis, sugar measurement, and cases where sample conservation and accuracy are critical.

DB30 NanoSize

Using the NanoCuvette™ S, this package enables particle size-related measurements directly from UV-Vis spectra. This provides laboratories working with nanoparticles, colloids, formulations, and advanced materials with a complementary alternative to traditional particle sizing workflows.

SpectroLink™

Both packages include SpectroLink™ box set up and SpectroWorks™ cloud platform. These transform the DB30 into a connected analytical environment with cloud-based data management, machine learning-based modelling, custom application development with seamless integration between the instrument and analytics.
