HORIBA UK Limited (Head Office: Northampton, United Kingdom), a HORIBA Group company, is proud to announce that Atsushi Horiba OBE, Chairman & Group CEO, has been named an Honorary Fellow of University College London (hereafter UCL), United Kingdom.

The title of Honorary Fellow is awarded to individuals who have made distinguished achievements in fields such as the arts, science, and business, or who have made outstanding contributions to UCL through service and other activities. Atsushi Horiba OBE was selected in recognition of the contributions made through the partnership between UCL and the HORIBA Group toward the realization of a sustainable society, including decarbonization.
The title was conferred at the UCL Fellowship Award ceremony held on September 10, 2026, at Royal Festival Hall, a prestigious cultural venue in London, UK.
Partnership with UCL
HORIBA UK Limited (Head Office: Northampton, United Kingdom; Managing Executive: Richard Carter), a HORIBA Group company, and UCL signed a partnership agreement in 2021 and have since advanced a broad range of collaborations, including personnel exchanges and joint research for new product development.
In September 2026, UCL established the HORIBA Chair of Advanced Propulsion Technologies, appointing Professor Thomas S. Miller of the UCL Faculty of Engineering as the inaugural post-holder. Together, UCL and HORIBA UK Limited are advancing efforts to help realize a decarbonized society through research into advanced propulsion technologies for highly efficient, low-emission transportation using next-generation mobility, including electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles.
In addition to the newly established Chair, HORIBA UK Limited supports two doctoral research students based in UCL’s Advanced Propulsion Lab, contributing to cutting-edge research and helping to develop the next generation of engineering talent.
