The PolyLab Educational Program - Teaching Students About Vibration Measurement

Motivation

Education plays a crucial role in society. Polytec is proud to provide this program as they support the positive effect education has on generations of the future. In order to empower today’s students, PolyLab was designed with state-of-the-art tools for vibration measurement.

Polytec’s aim is to educate students and supply educational institutions like schools, universities and colleges with the potential to improve labs and classes by utilizing the latest metrology methods for free.

What is PolyLab?

PolyLab is a turn-key educational kit which is accessible to students as an experimental framework and covers concepts like vibration testing and modal parameters (damping, natural frequency, and mode shapes).

Multiple test stations will be shipped to your facility, each having test objects, a portable VibroGo® vibrometer, and a lab tutorial including relevant content and exciting experiments.

As it is simple to use and provides the possibility for entirely digital non-contact vibration measurement, students will enjoy working with the VibroGo®. It also includes analog data acquisition for visualization of transfer functions amongst many other features.

Included in the Kit

  • Practical tests and demonstrative experiments in a detailed script for teaching vibration tests and measuring parameters such as resonance frequency, damping and deflection.
  • Choices for digital and analog data acquisition and analysis with Polytec VibSoft software.
  • The portable laser Doppler vibrometer VibroGo®, which measures real vibration behavior, dynamics and acoustics of excited structures via a flexible, non-contact method, with a wide frequency bandwidth from DC to 100 kHz.
