BI-200SM Research Goniometer for Unparalleled Light Scattering Performance

BI-200SM goniometer was designed by leading scientists in the study of light scattering for researchers that need to perform dynamic light scattering (DLS) and static light scattering (SLS) studies.

The Bl-200SM Research Goniometer System provides access to all of these studies with an automatic, modular, and versatile system. It is a precision instrument designed for exacting scattering measurements. Based on a special turntable with precision ball bearings and a stepping motor, the Bl-200SM’s modern design and quality construction guarantee precise measurements due to the wobble-free movement of the detector. It is field proven in hundreds of laboratories. It is ideal for macro-molecular studies and submicron particle sizing.

At the heart of the BI-200SM is the TurboCorr correlator which is an entirely digital, high speed, signal processor which can be used as an auto- or cross correlator for dynamic light scattering measurements (DLS) and as a photon counter for static light scattering measurements (SLS). It operates entirely in real-time at 100% efficiency over 10 decades in delay time.

Other advanced features include a tunable 40 mW solid state laser, Avalanche Photo Diode (APD) detector, and main detector optics with a coated, adjustable achromat for focusing scattered light onto 200 micron slit, a filter turret with 637, 532, 633, 514 and 488nm narrow band pass filters and 100, 200, and 400 micron, 1, 2, and 3 mm pinhole for SLS & DLS measurements.

The BI-200SM uses an optically clear vat that is polished to minimize flair, temperature control and filtration of index matching fluid, and a precision cell holder that accommodates, standard, low-rise round cells including small volume versions.

Typical DLS applications include studying particle size distribution, particle aggregation phenomena, micellar systems, micro-emulsion technology, colloid behavior, vesicles & liposomes, plasmid DNAs, particle size growth, and nucleation processes & protein crystallization.

Typical SLS applications include studying molecular weight determinations, radius of gyration, determination of second viral coefficient, micro-emulsion technology, colloid behavior complex fluid characterization, emulsion polymerization, and particle size growth nucleation processes.
