Ausmelt Wins 2 New Contracts Valued at $2.5m

Ausmelt Ltd has won two significant new contracts including its second project in Russia.

The new contracts have combined revenues exceeding A$2.5 million.

In the first project, Ausmelt has signed a basic engineering design contract and a technology licensing agreement with a major metallurgical company located in the Commonwealth of Independent States (formerly the Soviet Union).

The client has requested that details of the project be kept confidential until it completes its approval and disclosure obligations.

Ausmelt has already completed a process design for this new smelter and basic design will begin shortly. The project is expected to move forward to detailed design and equipment supply in the first half of calendar 2007.

Ausmelt has also signed a further contract with Dowa Mining of Japan to conduct a further series of up to four pilot plant trials. The trials are aimed at developing a more detailed knowledge of the optimum operating parameters for treating the wide range of metallic feeds and wastes at a new secondary copper plant being built at Kosaka.
Ausmelt’s Managing Director, Mr Paul Abbott, said: “This continues to be a good year for Ausmelt. This is our second Russian project. The earlier project, for the Russian Copper Company, is expected to start up later this year.

“We are also pleased to conduct more trials for Dowa Mining which is one of the world’s leading metal smelting and refining companies. The commitment to technical detail and learning by Dowa’s engineering team is admirable and augurs well for a successful project.”
