Environmental Catalysis over Gold-Based Materials

Environmental Catalysis over Gold-Based Materials

Edited by George Avgouropoulos and Tatyana Tabakova

Being an inert noble metal, gold was largely overlooked as acatalyst until the mid 1980's when its nano-form was used in the first catalytic aldol reaction. Today gold has the potential for many new catalytic applications and is being investigated at a higher rate than ever before, prompting the need for an authoritative monograph on gold and its use as an environmental catalyst.

Edited by two experienced practitioners in the field, this book presents the most highlighted moments of recent research, with contributions from prominent gold catalyst researchers. A review of the main activities in the field is presented, along with the techniques used to synthesise, characterise, and evaluate gold-based materials.

The book should be of interest to all those working in catalysis/green chemistry, in particular, to advanced level researchers in catalysis using gold-based materials. It is hoped that specialists in one reaction will read with interest the chapters on the neighbouring expertise. The book is also meant for PhD students and advanced students interested in this area.
