Goodrich Win Contract to Supply US Navy Submarines with Composite Torpedo Diffusers

Honeywell Engines, Systems and Services has awarded Goodrich Corporation a contract to supply composite torpedo diffusers for the U.S. Navy's nuclear-powered, fast attack submarine. Goodrich will produce the light weight, composite structures which are integral components in the torpedo launch system. The components help control water pressure used to eject torpedoes. The systems will be installed on Virginia Class submarines.

Ed Hart, President of the Goodrich's Engineered Polymer Products division stated, "We are very pleased that we were selected to supply these critical assembly components for this system. This award adds to the growing number of composite products that we supply for the Virginia Class submarines and it is our privilege to be part of such an important program." Fabrication of the torpedo diffuser components will begin immediately at the company's Jacksonville, Fla. site with delivery of the first set of hardware scheduled for early 2005.
