BASF Extends Uvinul Range of Light Stabilizers

BASF has extended its range of Uvinul light stabilizers for plastics to include three new products. These new additions to the range consist of a benzotriazole and two HALS products (Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers). They allow Uvinul light stabilizers to be used in a greater variety of applications in the plastics industry.

The UV absorber Uvinul 3034 is particularly effective in polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyamide and polycarbonate on account of its low volatility and excellent heat resistance. Uvinul 5062 H is an oligomeric HALS that performs very well in polyolefins, olefin copolymers and in blends of polypropylene and elastomers. Uvinul 4092 H is a liquid monomeric HALS, and its main applications are in polyurethane, PVC and in liquid colorants for PET. Uvinul 3034 and Uvinul 5062 H have also been approved by the EU and the FDA for use in food-contact applications.

By extending its range of light stabilizers, BASF is continuing to make advances in this strategic growth area. “We are now able to supply an even greater variety of high-performance light stabilizers to our customers in the plastics industry. We will continue to adapt our range of products to the demands of the market in future”, said Dr. Alexander Aumüller, Director of Strategic Marketing, Performance Chemicals for Plastics and Specialties.
