Cereplast Releases Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate Starch Hybrid Resin

Cereplast, a manufacturer of bio-based and sustainable bioplastics, has announced the addition of ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) starch hybrid compounds, a new group of bioplastics.

Hybrid 651D, a new grade of Cereplast’s hybrid resin, is the category’s first product. It is a pliable material that is rough and suitable for soft injection moldable and extrusions applications. Hybrid 651D resins offer the desired properties of regular EVA and reduce carbon footprint.

Hybrid 651D has been formulated by combining industrial starch and EVA in a modern mixing device. It can be utilized in the production of footwear, packaging, consumer goods, handbags and other fashion accessories, cable and wire insulation, adhesion layers for use in multi-layer films, and soft plastic goods like hoses and tubes.

Mr. Frederic Scheer, Chairman and CEO of Cereplast, stated that the company has launched the new bioplastic resins in the market which is a result of the continuous effort of the company’s R&D team. He added that the Hybrid 651D has expanded the number of applications, which can be formed from the company’s resin product line, thus delivering customers with the latest range of properties for long-lasting environmental-friendly materials.

The bioplastic products from Cereplast are used as an alternative for usual plastics in all converting methods like blow molding, injection molding, extrusions and thermoforming. Currently, Cereplast supplies resins to meet different requirements of customers.
