Momentive Opens New Curing Agent Production Capabilities at Chinese Facility

Momentive Specialty Chemicals Inc., one of the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of epoxy resins and curing agents, has opened new curing agent manufacturing capabilities at a facility in China.

The new plant, located in Tianjin, China, expands MSC’s regional capacity to produce amine curing agents for the world’s fastest growing market, and supports the global demand for high performance epoxy systems.

This new capacity is part of an on-going expansion of MSC’s global manufacturing footprint to better serve its customers. Using locally sourced raw materials, the facility can manufacture a full range of standard polyamides, such as EPIKURE™ Curing Agent 3115-X-70, as well as specialty amine curing agents that provide higher performance and market differentiation. These specialty amines are suitable for producing systems requiring lower temperature cure, higher solids, higher chemical resistance or lower yellowing.

Dan Weinmann, Global Segment Leader for Coatings & Civil Engineering Markets, said: “This new capacity is an important step in our growth strategy for China and the Asia Pacific region. The Tianjin facility enhances our capabilities to meet market needs with local production, local sales and technical service support, as well as customized new product development from our lab in Shanghai. The new site further strengthens our unique position in the amine curing agent market. As one of the leading global suppliers of specialty amine curing agents, MSC continues to develop new amine curing agents for global market needs.”
