SKF has been selected to deliver Nautilus bearings for Dongfang Electric New Energy Equipment (Hangzhou) Co Ltd.’s first order of wind turbines outside China.
“We are delighted to be chosen to support Dongfang Electric New Energy Equipment’s first international order,” says Sunny Chan, Head of Renewable Energy, SKF China. “The Nautilus bearing which is increasingly used as the main shaft bearing in wind turbines, meets Dongfang’s high expectations in terms of both performance and quality.”
Dongfang Electric New Energy Equipment is a leading manufacturer of wind turbines to a broad range of customers in China. The company recently received its first international order of 2.5 MW direct drive wind turbines and selected SKF as single supplier of main shaft bearings.
A large number of the wind turbines manufactured by Dongfang Electric New Energy Equipment for international export will be delivered to Skellefteå Kraft, one of Sweden’s largest energy companies. The collaboration between China and Sweden is unique and will result in one of Europe’s largest land based wind parks. The agreement was announced during an official ceremony in Stockholm in presence of the Chinese ambassador in Sweden and the Swedish minister of trade.
The Nautilus bearings will mainly be produced in SKF’s factory in Dalian, China.
