Oxford Instruments Launches Smartlink for the Maxxi 6, a Powerful Software Platform for an Advanced Coating Thickness and Materials Analyser.

Oxford Instruments enhances the MAXXI 6 coating thickness and materials analyser with the introduction of SmartLink software, combining powerful yet easy-to-use software with high-resolution detector technology.

SmartLink, available on previous and select current generations of Oxford Instruments microspot analysers, has been optimized for the MAXXI 6 to meet the demands of incoming inspection, production control and quality control personnel. Utilizing SmartLink, the MAXXI 6 X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometer allows for the rapid analysis of coatings applied by electronics and metal finishing industries, as well as compositional analysis of production materials.

Simple yet powerful

With a user interface designed to simplify routine analysis, minimally trained operators are ensured the same result as expert technical staff using point-and-shoot operation. Advanced users can take advantage of features that make it easy to interpret X-ray spectra, derive custom-built calibrations, create reporting schemes to flag out-of-tolerance results, and prepare mapping overlays showing the position and relative presence of elements across a specimen.

Analytical results can be automatically stored or exported in a variety of formats. Combining intuitive operation and powerful analytical features makes it easy for a range of staff to quickly get the right result, thereby increasing productivity.

Rapid on-boarding

Thousands of Oxford Instruments customers use SmartLink across a range of coating thickness and materials analysers. For customers looking to increase their analytical capabilities, the MAXXI 6 offers advantages including high-resolution silicon drift detector (SDD) technology, high-precision X-Y sample positioning stage and large chamber size.

With the addition of SmartLink to the MAXXI 6, customers now have an easy path to upgrading their capabilities without the need for extensive user training.  The user interface is instantly familiar to existing users, greatly reducing the time required for software training, saving time and cost. Customers new to SmartLink will quickly appreciate and fully utilize the intuitive software.

SmartLink software has a legacy of innovation and success in the coatings industry. We are thrilled to bring our most popular coating thickness and materials analysis software to our most advanced analyser, and we are excited to make it possible for our customers to measure new, challenging applications.
