Minerals Technologies’ New Calcium Carbonate Product for Reinforcement of Plastics

Minerals Technologies Inc. announced today that is has launched a new calcium carbonate product for reinforcement of plastic, called VICRON® FRP, in such applications as Sheet Molding Compound (SMC), Bulk Molding Compound (BMC) and thermoset polyesters. The product was developed by Specialty Minerals Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Minerals Technologies that is a leader in mineral additives.

BASF, Markor to Establish Chinese JV for Butanediol and Polytetrahydrofuran Production

BASF and Xinjiang Markor Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. (Markor) have signed key cooperation contracts for the establishment of joint ventures for the production of butanediol (BDO) and polytetrahydrofuran (PolyTHF®, chemical name: polytetramethylene ether glycol). The joint venture companies will be established once the relevant Chinese regulatory approvals are obtained.
