Goodyear to Reduce Dependency on Natural Rubber

Goodyear have announced that they have developed a number of proprietary synthetic rubber products that will see them reduce their consumption of natural rubber by up 15% over the next few year.

They have been working on the new compounds for some time in response to natural rubber price volatility. Prices for natural rubber have risen steadily over the last two years.

These developments do not shield Goodyear completely from further price increases in natural rubber, but they do offer some relief, as they increase the use of synthetic rubbers in tyre manufacture, while suffering no decrease in quality.
