Avon Win Major Respiratory Protection Contract

Avon Protection, part of Avon Rubber p.l.c. is pleased to announce the placement of a contract by the UK MoD. This contract covers a further three years requirement for the UK military's in-service respirator, the S10. Avon are world leaders in the design, build and manufacture of CBRN respiratory protection and the S10 continues to be the global benchmark, setting the standard for levels of protection and comfort. The Avon family of respirators provides military, emergency responders, NATO, Special Forces and paramilitary forces with the most advanced products available.

Avon Rubber p.l.c. has been the sole supplier of respirators to the UK MoD for over two decades. The contract demonstrates the MoDs continued trust in Avon’s products in protecting our troops in the most hostile environments now and in the future.

Peter Slabbert, Avon Rubber’s CEO said ‘We are delighted to continue to support our troops in all of their challenges around the world and would like to thank the MoD for their partnership and support of our battle proven respirator and continued confidence in Avon’s products.’

The total contract value is £4.49 million but it has the potential to exceed £10 million over the three years. It includes the supply of S10 and FM12 respirators which will continue the tradition of manufacture in Wiltshire, UK, which dates back to 1926, and will continue to secure jobs for skilled personnel at this site.

Avon Protection leads the world in CBRN respiratory protection through the manufacture of masks and hoods and is the sole supplier of military respirators to the US Department of Defense through their Joint Services General Purpose Mask (JSGPM) contract which was awarded to Avon in 2000. Now in full production the deal is likely to be worth $500 million over a period of 10 years and involves the supply of M50 military respirators to all four US armed forces.

Avon Protection is currently investing in the development of the next generation of respirators for the future soldier from its UK headquarters.
