Colorcon Announces Expansion of Cotia Technical Service Facility

Colorcon, Inc. today announced the upgrade of its Cotia SP, Brasil Technical Service Laboratories to include state-of-the-art processing suites for formulation development of granulations, multiparticulates, and tablets.  Two new organic solvent process rooms have been added to the existing laboratory space.

They are dedicated to provide Colorcon Latin American customers with a safe environment to conduct studies using organic solvents in the preparation of finished dosage forms. The facility upgrade includes new equipment for modified release multiparticulate coating applications plus organic or aqueous top- or bottom-spray granulation trials.

Utilizing these new assets will enable pharmaceutical formulators to evaluate the influence of both aqueous and organic processing options on the performance of a drug product during a single visit to Colorcon.  Customers are encouraged to use the facilities to work alongside Colorcon's technical experts in developing the dosage form that meets the needs of their formulation project.

According to Dennis Cummings, President of Colorcon Americas, the investments in the Cotia technical service facility were made to save customers development time and cost.  "Colorcon plans continued capital investment in our facilities as well as increasing our services in the region. We feel privileged to assist in the development of the rapidly growing Latin American pharmaceutical market, and honored to help our customers meet their technical and financial targets."
