Rohm and Haas to Buy Kureha's Plastics Additive Business

Rohm and Haas have signed a definitive agreement to purchase the global plastics additives business of the Japanese firm, Kureha Chemical Industry Co for $65.5 million. The deal is expected to close before the end of the year.

The purchase entails commercial operations throughout the Asia-Pacific region and other areas, as well as manufacturing operations and laboratories in Singapore.

The two companies have enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship over the years. The current deal will allow Rohm and Haas to expand into the Asia-Pacific region, while Kureha will concentrate on less cyclical high value-added product areas.
