Textron Systems Acquire Skid Shoe Business of Carbide Technologies

Textron Systems have just expanded the range of products they provide to the helicopter market by acquiring the skid shoes business of Carbide Technology Inc. The terms of the transactions were not disclosed.

The skid shoe business of Californian-base Carbide Technology will become integrated into Edwards and Associates, a unit of Textron.

The skid shoes on a helicopter protect its landing gear and other equipment from abrasion damage due to contact with hard surfaces. The technology that Textron has just purchased involves a hard carbide coating that is applied to the skid tubes reducing wear and premature replacement.
