Malaysian Magnesium Plant Delayed

The planned magnesium plant for Malaysia by New World Alloys has been delayed.

The plan involved the purchase of Alcoa’s decommissioned magnesium plant at Washington, USA and subsequent relocation to Malaysia.

The delay centres around New World Alloy’s ability to source funding for the project. Funding has been delayed due to the war in Iraq. This delay has lead to the expiration of an option on the Alcoa plant.

New World Alloys still expect the project to go ahead.
