RUSAL has announced the forming of the Raw Materials Division. The purpose of the establishment of this division is the supply of raw materials (except alumina, the production of which is a responsibility of Alumina Division) to RUSAL's aluminium smelters. The key purpose of the new division will be to supply the smelters with pitch, anode blocks, sodium hydroxide, cathodes, aluminium fluoride, coke, black and brown coal, and anthracite.
The Raw Materials Division will be aiming to seek new opportunities to supply RUSAL's aluminium smelters with the necessary raw materials, including acquisition and construction of the new assets as well as purchase optimization. RUSAL plans to achieve full self-sufficiency in main types of raw materials by 2013. The Raw Development Division will include RUSAL's cathode plant in China and the assets producing aluminium fluoride and fluor calcareous.
The new division will be the seventh in the division structure of the company that consists of Aluminium, Alumina, Packaging, Cans, Construction and Extruded Products Divisions.
