Biomedical Firms IsoTis and GenSci to Merge

Swiss biomedical firm IsoTis and Canadian GenSci Regeneration Sciences have signed a definitive merger agreement, that will result in the formation of a dynamic new player in the orthobiologics field.

The two companies make a perfect fit as IsoTis specialises in demineralised bone matrix products such as cartilage and wound repair biomaterials, while GenSci is predominantly concerned with synthetic bone materials.

Under the agreement, IsoTis will acquire 20% of GenSci, such that IsoTis and GenSci will own 60% and 40% of the merged company respectively.

By combining forces they will be able to accelerate business development through their well capitalised situation, as well as forging a market leading company in this fast growing market.
