Commercial Metals Looking to Buy Polish Steel Mill

American-based Commercial Metals Company has confirmed that its subsidiary Commercial Metals (International) AG has been selected as the preferred bidder and will be negotiating exclusively to purchase Polish-based Huta Zawiercie SA. Currently Impexmetal owns 71% of the shares in Huta Zawiercie, while the Polish treasury control the bulk of the remainder.

Huta Zawiercie own a steel minimill, with two electric arc furnaces with an estimated capacity of 1,000,000 tons per annum. It’s main products are rebar and wire rod.

Both parties hope to complete a due diligence review and to execute a definitive share purchase agreement in July.
