Smorgon Steel Pursue International Expansion Strategy

Following its strategy for international expansion, Smorgon Steel has announced that it will acquire a scrap metal business and open a trading office in India.

Pending due diligence, Smorgon Steel have agreed to purchase the assets of the Wanless Group of companies who have operated a scrap metal business in the South Pacific for the past 8 years. Wanless has a strong presence in Papua New Guinea and Fiji, and has been supplying Smorgon with scrap steel. They have also purchased their other steel requirements from Smorgon. Smorgon plans for these arrangements to continue after the acquisition.

Smorgon Steel will also open a new trading office in New Delhi, in August.
