Master alloys are a pre-alloyed combination of alloying elements that are available in different forms. They are also known as grain refiners, hardeners or modifiers based on their applications. They are used instead of a pure metal because they are very economical and save energy. They can be added to a melt to achieve the desired result. These alloys are suitable for structure control and adjusting the composition of a liquid metal in order to achieve the required chemical specification.

The following datasheet gives an overview of aluminium/aluminum yttrium master alloy.

Chemical Composition

The chemical composition of aluminium/aluminum yttrium master alloy is given in the following table.

Element Content (%)
Aluminium, Al 89-91
Yttrium, Y 9-11

Applications

Aluminium/aluminum yttrium (AlY) master alloy is used for alloying yttrium into aluminium.
