Turbiscan TRI-LAB from Microtrac is a multisample stability analyzer that is based on the SMLS technology. It allows quick and dependable shelf-life studies of formulations (foams suspensions, and emulsions).

The Turbiscan TRI-LAB functions with three separate measurement positions for quick and measured comparisons of dispersion properties.

The stability studies could be performed from 20 to 60 °C to imitate storage and shelf-life conditions or to expedite the studies. The technology ensures a direct reading of macroscopic and colloidal stability without mechanical stress or dilution.

Highlights of Turbiscan Tri-Lab

Multisample Stability Analysis

Up to three samples can be examined at the same, thereby making the Turbiscan TRI-LAB an extremely adaptable instrument for comparison or multiple project use. Formulations and dispersions are investigated without mechanical stress or dilution or for real stability measurement.

Measurement of Stability & Size

  • Quantitative monitoring of dispersion stability
  • Shelf life and long-term stability analysis
  • Aggregation and agglomeration kinetics
  • Mean diameter
  • Migration velocity
  • Volume fraction
  • Dispersibility ratio

Accelerated Aging Conditions

Temperature control from 20 to 60 °C enables measurement time to be expedited and observe destabilization in real usage, storage, and shipping conditions. TURBISCAN technology is around 200 times faster compared to conventional visual tests.

Turbiscan Stability Index

TSI scale offers a single value to quickly evaluate and rank formulation stability separately on the ongoing phenomena. Currently, it is possible to assess sample stability with just one number.

Applications

  • Home and personal care
  • General chemistry and polymers
  • Food and beverages
  • Pharmaceutical

Key Benefits

TURBISCAN is the world reference technology available for direct physical stability analysis. With the help of hassle-free sample preparation, in-built software, and highly dependable measurements, Turbiscan TRILAB has become an irreplaceable tool for any formulator.

The instrument has the ability to quantify up to three samples at a time on disposable 4 or 20 mL glass cells, and at a temperature range of 20–60 °C. The stability reading could be conducted via the software and is also displayed on the front LCD screen of the TRILAB for a quick summary of the occurring stability measurement.

TURBISCAN technologies comply International Organization for Standardization guidelines for the characterization of dispersion stability (ISO/TR 13097, ISO/TR 18811) and particle size determination (ISO/TR 13014, ISO/TS 21357).
