Tescan announces the launch of Orage™ 2, a next-generation Ga+ FIB-SEM column integrated into the AMBER 2 platform for advanced materials science applications.
Researchers developed an additive-free solar-thermal desalination platform that uses a nanostructured superwicking black metal surface to evaporate real ocean water while moving crystallized salts away from active evaporation zones. The prototype achieved stable evaporation, near-complete salt recovery, and zero-liquid-discharge operation in testing, while also showing early potential for selective mineral recovery from seawater.

Researchers tested pulsed nanosecond Nd:YAG laser cleaning on aged paper artificially contaminated with stamp ink, using microscopy, spectroscopy, colorimetry, roughness analysis, tensile testing, and Taguchi-based optimization. The study found that optimized laser parameters could remove ink while preserving measured surface, chemical, and mechanical indicators, although long-term aging studies are still needed.

Element Six (E6), a global leader in synthetic diamond and advanced material technologies, has partnered with UK-based clean-tech innovator Oxi-Tech Solutions to make industrial cleaning safer, greener and more effective, eliminating the need to rely on harsh chemicals
Metso is introducing the next generation of its lithium carbonate production process, a proven single-pass technology designed to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate from spodumene concentrate with high yield, low operating costs, and in a more sustainable way.
Researchers found that critically boron-doped diamond films can develop intrinsic electronic granularity, producing three tunable superconducting transport phases despite structural uniformity. The findings show how temperature, magnetic field, and current direction can reshape anisotropic superconducting behavior in diamond, with implications for future quantum-on-chip platforms.
