Praxair Canada to Deliver Gaseous Oxygen to Essar Steel Algoma

Praxair, one of the leading industrial gases companies in the South and North America, has announced that its subsidiary, Praxair Canada, has established a new cryogenic air separation facility.

The company’s new plant will deliver 900 tons of gaseous oxygen per day to Essar Steel Algoma, a producer of fully-integrated steel.

The new plant becomes part of the company’s existing air separation facilities located in Sault St. Marie, Canada. It expands the total capacity to 2,700 tons per day. The expansion also includes the addition of merchant liquid capacity in order to support the growing regional atmospheric gases market as well as US argon market.

Praxair will supply the gases to Essar Steel Algoma’s steel mill in Ontario, Canada. Both companies have a long-term association in Sault Ste Marie and the current project will help them to grow further. Praxair’s capacity expansion plays an important role in the future growth plans of Essar Steel Algoma.
