Orica Acquires Fernz Specialty Chemicals

It was announced today that Orica Ltd of Australia had acquired the Fernz Specialty Chemicals business from Nufarm Ltd for the sum of A$60 million.

The acquisition will allow Orica to increase its chemicals distribution business, with the Fernz business making a good fir for their existing business.

Orica believe that the Fernz business can be enhanced by their existing business strengths and will benefit from Synergies between the two entities. Some of these include, more efficient distribution networks, improved purchasing power and supply chains logistics.

Orica already supply chemicals to a range of industries such as agriculture, horticulture, building and construction, manufacturing, mining, paint and coatings, refrigeration etc. Fernz will complement the Orica range in the areas of health care, food stuffs, polymers, pulp and paper and waste water.
