Reduce Exposure to Dust

The PDM3700 monitor, designed to deliver rapid, high-quality personal dust exposure data, helps safeguard miners’ health by measuring shift-average respirable coal dust exposure as it approaches regulatory limits. By equipping mine workers and management with the tools needed for real-time personal coal dust monitoring and exposure reduction, the PDM3700 serves as a first line of defense against long-term health effects.

Real-Time Measurement

The PDM3700 provides three primary real-time measurements: current mass concentration, cumulative mass concentration, and percent of limit. Two additional user-initiated measurements are also available and can be performed without interfering with the primary sample.

The battery-powered PDM3700 begins by drawing a continuous air sample from the breathing zone. It removes any particles larger than respirable size and measures the mass of the dust collected on an exchangeable filter.

Lower Per-Sample Cost

Because dust exposure data are automatically calculated, there is no need for filter transport or manual handling steps associated with the gravimetric method. This automated process results in a significantly lower per-sample cost and offers the added benefit of continuous data availability.

Designed for the Mine Environment

Building on the proven underground performance of the PDM3600, the PDM3700 personal dust monitor also delivers accurate, continuous data on personal respirable dust exposure. Designed to withstand typical mining environments, the durable, belt-mounted case is made of static-dissipating material.
