At NPE 2012 international plastics exhibition, A. Schulman will display its Polytrope STR series of cap resins.
The company will describe the importance of Polytrope STR product line that can enhance the physical performance and appearance of finished components. These resins are ideal for applications in durable and decorative surfaces. A. Schulman also offers samples to test and evaluate the performance of the resin technology.
The company has secured a US patent titled, ‘Multilayer clear over color polyolefin sheets and layered backing structure’ which covers an exclusive coextruded multilayer resin product that delivers a paint-free plastic structure. The product can be developed to create the appearance of plastics or painted metals.
By using the new patented technology, Polytrope STR resins can be easily developed to attain any gloss level and match any color. The resins provide exceptional weatherability and resistance to gravel impact, peeling, cracking and staining. The flexibility of the A. Schulman’s Polytrope STR cap resins enables application in thermoforming, profile extrusions and sheets and films. These resins are an ideal replacement for laminates, paint films, paints and other non-olefin surfacing products.
Polytrope STR cap resins are suitable for exterior applications in power sports, earth moving equipment, lawn and garden, automotive, heavy trucks and buses and agricultural equipment. The cap resins can be coextruded with a Polytrope STR thermoplastic polyOlefin (TPO) based on the applications.
