Nanocoating Preserves Contrast in Architectural Sandblasted Glass

Fox Fire Glass, a provider of decorative functional architectural glass for residential and commercial projects, has selected Nanofilm Clarity UltraSEAL ABW for its sandblasted glass products.

Nanofilm Clarity Ultra Seal nanotechnology coating is invisible protection for sandblasted glass

The company creates large-scale sandblasted installations and the designs require a coating for preventing contamination from dirt and other particles in the environment. Previously, Fox Fire Glass used to lacquer the surface, which reduced the contrast by dampening the whiteness of the artwork. Further, the coating added a brownish tint, according to the owner of Nanofilm Clarity UltraSEAL ABW, Donna Stiefel.

Fox Fire Glass had recently performed a continuous glass balcony railing and stair railing installation stretching for 40 ft in a residence. The railing consisted of solid glass pieces set up continuously to depict a mural.

The UltraSEAL ABW can be easily applied and is a single application process. The product has to be wiped on the required surface and any excess coating has to be removed. It does not require any buffing. The resulting film leads to a durable seal that resists sunlight, weather, oils, dirt, water and other contaminants. The product can be used for internal and external applications due to its weather resisting nature. Stiefel, states that the UltraSEAL ABW coating will last for around three years in an external setting, and the coating will have to be reapplied. The UltraSEAL ABW coating does not require heating or curing processes. Original coatings can be spruced up through simple re-application.
