Kobe Steel to Build Aluminium Plant in USA

Japanese steel maker Kobe Steel is set to build a $32.7 million aluminium plant in Kentucky, USA. The new venture will be called Kobe Aluminum Automotive Products.

The plant to be located in Bowling Green will produce aluminium forgings for use in automotive suspension set ups. They intend to produce parts for both US and Japanese auto manufacturers based in America.

Aluminium is becoming more popular for these applications due to its light weight.

The plant is due to start production in 2005
