Commercial Metals Take Control of Huta Zawiercie

Commercial Metals Company have completed their purchase of a controlling share in Polish steel maker Huta Zawiercie S.A. Commercial Metals paid about US$50 million to acquire a 71.1% share, with most of the balance being owned by the Polish State Treasury.

Following on from the change in ownership, Huta Zawiercie will change its name to CMC Zawiercie S.A.

Huta Zawiercie is the third largest steel producer in Poland with an estimated capacity of 1 million tons. Main products include rebar and wire rod.
