Introduction
Steels containing carbon as the major alloying element are referred as
carbon steels. They may also consist of up to 1.2% of manganese and 0.4% of silicon, as well as other alloying elements such as chromium, aluminium, molybdenum, and copper in small quantities.
The following datasheet gives an overview of the AISI 1046 carbon steel.
