Introduction

Aluminium / aluminum 2xxx series are high strength alloys with copper (Cu) as the chief alloying element. Alloys of this series possess very high mechanical strength after heat treatment but low corrosion resistance. To increase the corrosion resistance of components manufactured from aluminum-copper alloys, they should be clad with pure aluminum or with aluminium / aluminum 6xxx alloys.
