Steel giant LNM have been granted exclusive rights to negotiate for the privatization of certain assets of steel company Huta Czestochowa SA (HCz) and the shares of Huta Stali Czestochowa Sp z.o.o by the State Treasury of Poland.
Huta Czestochowa is Poland’s leading producer of steel plate, employing over 2000 staff, with steel making capacity in excess of 700,000 tonnes and rolling capacity of 1,200,000 MT.
The acquisition of these assets will helps LNM to pursue its strategy of enhancing its presence in the region, where it is already a leader.
Should LNM be successful in acquiring Huta Czestochowa, they will look to maximizing their rolling capabilities and increasing output. This could be achieved by increasing steel production or importing steel slab from Huta Katowice.
