Gail Invest Rs 725 crore to Almost Double Polymer Production Capacity

Gail India is planning to invest Rs 725 crore to increase its polymer production capacity from 2.6 to 4.4 million tonnes per annum.

Phase 1 of the project has already commenced. It consists of debottlenecking the downstream plant which involved an investment of Rs 76 Crore. This phase has resulted in a 20% production increase, raising output to 330 million tonnes per annum. It has also resulted in a 5% reduction in production costs and energy consumption.

Phase 2 of the expansion project has also commenced, with full expanded capacity top be realised by April 2006.
