Dow Corning's patented silicone organic elastomer blends maintain the distinctively luxurious, dry, smooth, and silky feel of traditional silicone elastomer blends-while offering enhanced compatibility with organic materials and actives.

The silicone organic elastomer blends were developed for use in skin, sun, and color cosmetic products. They are based on organo-modified silicone elastomer gels delivered in organic carrier fluids:

  • Dow Corning EL-8050 ID Silicone Organic Elastomer Blend, delivered in isododecane, a volatile organic carrier fluid.
  • Dow Corning EL-8051 IN Silicone Organic Elastomer Blend, delivered in isodecyl neopentanoate, a nonvolatile organic carrier fluid.

The incompatibility of traditional silicone elastomers with organics poses a formulating challenge. Silicone organic elastomer blends are more compatible, without compromising characteristic silicone textures and sensory performance.

Silicone organic elastomer blends offer formulation flexibility with organics and lipophilic active ingredients, including vitamins and sunscreens.
