ThyssenKrupp Bundles Its Plastics Capabilities into a New Company

As of October 1, 2009, ThyssenKrupp has bundled its plastics capabilities under ThyssenKrupp Plastics International GmbH. The new company is heading over 15 enterprises located in ten European countries. The new organization was made possible following the acquisition in 2008 from Evonik Röhm of the latter's remaining stake in ThyssenKrupp Röhm Kunststoffe GmbH.

As the German management company in the international alliance, ThyssenKrupp Plastics GmbH integrates with immediate effect the former brands Cadillac Plastic, König Kunststoffe and Otto Wolff Kunststoffe as well as the plastics business of ThyssenKrupp Schulte GmbH. ThyssenKrupp Plastics offers its customers in trade and industry a widely varying range of semi-manufactured plastic products while the long-established Otto Wolff brand also supplies products to the specialty building & construction trade and DIY outlets.

"In Germany, ThyssenKrupp Plastics represents for the first time in such a form a trader of semi-manufactured plastic products, with a professional sales team and closely meshed logistics network. Our aim is to further establish the ThyssenKrupp brand in the plastics services business," is how CEO Jürgen Westphal summarizes the prospects. "Larger sales teams broaden local product expertise and hence enhance consultancy services. A powerful logistics network improves product availability for our customers."

The branches' technical equipment for value-adding processing of the products is of a high standard at ThyssenKrupp Plastics. The same is true of the warehouse, distribution and information logistics managed through an ultramodern customer-focused network system. Specialized plastics processing solutions, specific product and application consultancy and the organization of seminars, training courses and regional trade conferences underscore customer focus. Also commanding high priority are vocational and advanced plastics courses for the employees. The Company's own Training Center stages courses with both theoretical and practical emphasis.

ThyssenKrupp Plastics GmbH is represented at over 25 locations throughout Germany. The headquarters are in Düsseldorf. The new company has a Germany-wide workforce of about 700. The Management Board members are Jürgen Westphal (Chairman), Falk Majert (domestic business) and Klaus Roth (foreign business).
