North Star Steel Sells Tube Division

Cargill Inc have just completed the sale of the tubular division of its subsidiary North Star Steel. The division has been purchased by “V & M Star”, a joint venture between Vollourec and Mannesmann Tubes (80%) and Sumitomo Corp (20%).

The sale was worth $380 million and included facilities at Youngstown, Ohio and Houston, Texas. The tube division is a leading manufacturer in its field, producing seamless tubes, mechanical pipe, line pipe and standard pipe for industries such as oil and gas exploration.
