Gurit-Heberlein to Acquire SP Group

The Swiss industrial group Gurit-Heberlein has agreed to acquire UK-based composites company SP Group. The acquisition involving cash and shares will come into effect on September 1.

The deal suited SP’s desire to partner with a strong and stable organisation so that their goals for high growth rates could be realised. Gurit offers them the financial strength and commitment to allow them to accelerate their activities to achieve their proposed targets for increased manufacturing and research and development facilities. They will now also be able to increase efforts pertaining to technology projects currently under development.

SP will form the largest composites division within Gurit, working along side other businesses who service complimentary industries which manufacture composites for skis, snowboards and aircraft interiors.

Under the new ownership, SP will benefit from materials purchasing and shared capacity advantages working in the larger organisation while continuing to produce products for their key areas of marine, wind energy and automotive.
