3M's Tamper Proof Security Laminate Composite Cards Could be Used for Drivers Licenses

3M's latest security laminate debuts in Booth 113 at the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) 2005 Annual International Conference in Ft. Worth, Texas. Confirm Laminate for Composite Cards from 3M now can be applied to composite driver's license cards and identification cards that are issued over the counter to offer a more secure and tamper-evident document.

Cardholders benefit from the strong security features of confirm laminate, card durability and the convenience of over-the-counter card issuance. Issuing sites realize greater customer satisfaction as a result of their ability to issue a more secure card almost instantaneously. Law enforcement and others who need to verify identification find it much easier to determine if a card has been tampered with or is counterfeit.

Confirm laminate provides a covert security feature using retroreflective technology to help secure documents. Invisible, customized images are imbedded within the card's laminate and can only be verified using a special hand-held viewer. Attempts to alter or counterfeit the laminate will be easier to detect.

Confirm Laminate with Floating Image from 3M combines the covert security with a unique overt optically variable device to further increase document security. Customized images appear to float and sink below the surface as the viewing angle changes. The floating image does more than provide another level of security. It makes verification fast and easy. The dramatic shift in the image is easy to see, enabling documents to be verified with the human eye alone. Attempts to alter the laminate in any way disrupt the floating images and are easily detected.
