BASF Introduces New VOCat 200 Series Base Metal Catalyst

BASF has introduced the newest catalyst to its VOCat™ product family - the VOCat 200 series base metal catalyst. The offering broadens the portfolio of tailor-made solutions designed to meet customers’ specific requirements for control of vent gas emissions from purified terephthalic acid (PTA) production processes.

“BASF offers a broad range of precious and base metal catalysts for use in PTA emissions abatement applications,” said Daniel Zhu, Business Development Manager, Stationary Emissions Control Catalysts, Asia Pacific for BASF. “The patented VOCat 200 offering extends BASF’s portfolio with an exceptionally efficient base metal catalyst on a honeycomb substrate. It can be used independently or combined with precious metal technologies as part of a VOCat Hybrid Catalyst System.”

BASF tailors its PTA emissions control solutions to meet customers’ specific process conditions and control requirements, helping them to meet increasingly stringent regulatory requirements in a reliable and cost effective way.

BASF is a leader in the development of highly active, robust and selective catalysts for the destruction of hydrocarbons and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs) originating from a wide variety of industrial processes, including chemical applications, paint systems, food processing, printing, electronics, and soil and groundwater cleanup systems. BASF has patented both precious and base metal catalysts for the control of VOCs. The VOCat Hybrid Catalyst System, utilizing both types of catalyst, has been used for over 15 years for the control of VOCs.
