Dow Corning Introduces EA-2900 Sealant with Ultra-Fast Adhesion for LED Lamp and Luminaires

Dow Corning, a global leader in silicones, silicon-based technology and innovation, introduced new Dow Corning® EA-2900 Sealant (white) here today at Light+Building (Booth A51, Hall 4.0).

One of the latest additions to the company's broad and growing portfolio of advanced silicone solutions for LED lamp and luminaire applications, Dow Corning® EA-2900 Sealant rapidly forms bonds in as little as 10 minutes. This enables manufacturers to minimize delays to assembly or handling of parts, and ensures significantly faster production of LED modules, lamps and luminaires.

"As the demand for next-generation LED lamps and luminaires continues to accelerate and production volumes increase every day, OEMs are looking for new and innovative ways to push design boundaries, while optimizing manufacturing speed," said Kaz Maruyama, global strategic marketing director, Lighting Solutions at Dow Corning. "Our new EA-2900 Sealant's ultra-fast adhesion addresses these critical challenges by enabling significantly faster assembly and delivering the proven mechanical performance and reliable protection, after full cure, for which Dow Corning silicones are known."

New Dow Corning® Dow Corning EA-2900 Sealant rapidly forms workable bonds in as little as 10 minutes, allowing OEMs to handle and process parts with minimal delay to the LED manufacturing process. This advanced silicone material delivers excellent unprimed adhesion to all conventional substrates and materials used in LED lighting assemblies, including aluminum, glass, polycarbonate, polymethylmethacrylate and Dow Corning® molded silicone optics.

After full cure, Dow Corning® EA-2900 Sealant offers greatly expanded design latitudes by enabling assembly of both optical and structural parts inside LED lamps and luminaires with a single material. In addition, it retains an Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 94-V1 Flammability rating, which contributes to the overall improved UL rating of completed LED fixtures in which Dow Corning® EA-2900 Sealant is used.

Dow Corning experts are on hand at Light+Building to discuss the new EA-2900 Sealant, as well as other innovative products from the company's versatile portfolio of high-performance silicone solutions for LED lamps and luminaires.

Light+Building is the world's leading trade fair for architecture, lighting and technology. The event is held here from March 30 to April 4, 2014 at the Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre.
